@sohoplace is a groundbreaking addition to the West End — the first purpose-built theatre to open in the area in over half a century. Opened in 2022 as part of the major Tottenham Court Road development, the theatre is the centrepiece of a £300m regeneration project led by Derwent London. Designed by AHMM architects with the theatre space created in collaboration with Haworth Tompkins and theatre consultants Charcoalblue, @sohoplace is visually and structurally modern, offering a bold contrast to its Victorian neighbours. The auditorium seats around 602 guests and is fully adaptable — it can be configured as end-on, in-the-round, or thrust, making it one of the most versatile theatre spaces in the West End.

Programming with Purpose

Since opening, @sohoplace has presented an ambitious and varied programme, including the world premiere of Marvellous and productions of Medea and Brokeback Mountain. It is managed by Nimax Theatres and aims to foster new voices and genre-defying work, establishing itself quickly as a space for bold storytelling and immersive audience experiences.
